Frequently Asked Questions!
My dog doesn't like water, but I think Hydrotherapy would benefit them
Unlike swimming in open water, an underwater treadmill is a lot less confronting. Even so, we understand that some dogs may need a little more time or support. We use proven techniques and positive encouragement to make the most of your session and most dogs can’t wait to come back!
How many sessions will my dog need?
The number of sessions required will depend on the condition being treated. In the initial assessment, a plan will be put together and then tracked through the recovery journey. It is recommended to have regular (monthly to bi-monthly) assessments to track progress and alter the plan that has been put in place.
When do I need a Vet Referral?
It's important that your dog has a correct diagnosis, and all medical, investigative and / or surgical procedures are carried out to achieve the best recovery. For any injury management or musculoskeletal conditions (hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, cruciate injuries, arthritis, neurological diseases etc), a veterinary referral is required and must be received 24 hours prior to the dogs first assessment. It is recommended that all other patients (weight loss, mobility in senior pets or conditioning) are referred by their Veterinarian for a complete picture of the dogs health.
Any assessments that are completed will also include a report to the veterinarian clinic to update them on your dogs rehabilitation.
What happens if I cant make or are late for my appointment?
You may cancel or reschedule your appointment without change no less than 24 hours prior to your appointment time. A "no-show" will be charged a full-service fee and repeated "no-shows" will result in sessions being paid for in advance.
Late arrivals for any service may result in a shortened session and the full session fee will still be applicable.
Can I stay with my dog?
We do ask that you stay with your dog during the services. Most dogs prefer to have their owner near them for confidence and praise.
My dog is anxious or aggressive - can we still do therapies?
We can still provide services to dogs who are anxious or aggressive and there are several strategies we can use. This may include having the dog muzzled, only the owner handling the dog, scheduling the appointment as the last session of the day so that extra time is available, ensuring gaps between appointments so that there are no cross overs between patients etc.
Can I bring multiple dogs to the appointment?
Absolutely! Multiple dogs can attend an appointment, however if multiple dogs are receiving treatments, each dog will need an appointment.
Do you accept Pet Insurance?
Please check with your insurance company if our services are covered by your policy. When they are, we can provide receipts for reimbursement.
